Brooks PTO Extracurricular Program (PEP) Winter Session Registration

The Brooks PTO PEP (formerly the After School Program) is opening LATE Winter Registration on Monday, February 1 at 5pm.  Late registration is online only, and are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Absentee Line and Phone Numbers for the Brooks School

Parents/Guardians, 

The office has recently added an “Absentee Line” extension for your convenience.    Report all absences on this extension only and we will notify your child’s teacher. 

Please send a note to the teacher regarding early dismissals, changes to your child’s going home schedule for that day or if someone not listed on the emergency form will be picking them up.  A note is the best way to communicate end of the day changes so the teacher or substitute have it in hand at dismissal time.

Lunch Tray Proposal considered by PTO

This document includes the proposal we received from Jeanne Irwin, Director of Food Services for the Medford Public Schools, regarding the purchase of new, reusable lunch trays for our school. It also includes her e-mail response to the questions we posed back to her following our October PTO meeting. Please review in preparation for a vote on the matter at our January 20th meeting.

Enrichment Committee December News

Here are some exciting literary events going on at the Brooks this month:

*Poet Regie Gibson and Cellist Robert Rivera will be conducting a poetry workshop with 4th grade students on Tuesday December 15th.  Mr. Gibso

n and Mr. Rivera work collaboratively to showcase contemporary and classical poetry.  Students will get an opportunity to use techniques taught to come up with original poetry.

*Author Jamie Spencer will be visiting the 1st grade classes on Friday, Dec. 18th.  She'll be reading her book, Train to Maine,  as well as sharing strategies to map out stories.

*Fantasy author Chris Abouzeid will be reading excerpts of his novel , Anatopsis, and discussing the novel-writing process with 5th grade classes on Wednesday, Dec. 23rd.
